The feature class is updated with new senior homes when applications come through the Planning Department. Facilities verified August 2021. Senior apartments are also included in this layer. In August 2021, Senior Apartments (age restricted apartments) were moved into this layer from Age Restricted Housing (Age_Restr_Housing) layer. Senior Home facilities were verified; see the comments field for name changes or additional information. For more information about age restricted communities, please see the Age_Restr_Housing, LOS (Level of Service), and LOS_Built (Level of Service Built) layers.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>In 9/2021 the following facilities were removed from Senior Homes because they have been closed: (1) Carebridge Assisted Living - 220 Rainbow Lane, land cleared; (2) Charty House - 2614 Elkhart St closed; (3) Living Options of Chesapeake, 5028 Portsmouth Blvd, land cleared; (4) Colonial Home for Adults - 904 George Washington Hwy N - pipe burst, property for sale; (5) Measure of Love - 2929 E Point Dr - property sold,; (6) Pungo Sneior Care 1213 Kempsville Rd - address does not exist; mailing address 820 Brightleaf Place; (7) Thelmas Home for Adults - 3673 Port Rd - web says permanently closed.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Nursing Homes are regulated by VA Department of Health, while </SPAN><SPAN>Assisted Living Facilities are regulated by VA Department of Social Services. </SPAN><SPAN>Both require Health Deparment Inspections due to the common kitchens. Smaller group homes receive courtesy inspections. Lists are kept through Social Services.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
