High demand for waterfront industrial, residential, commercial and recreational uses requires a balanced approach that prioritize space for industrial businesses critical to the local economy and tax base while finding opportunities to connect the community to the river. The Industrial Waterfront Study was initiated as part of the City of Chesapeake's Comprehensive Plan 2045 update and adopted by City Council on March 26, 2024.
